Sometimes I (Mariana) am afraid that my portraits with fewer clothes can turn into ordinary/vulgar photos. But the sensitive side and the feeling of freedom attracted me to do so.
Showing vulnerability is necessary for creating authentic pictures, but many people are reluctant to allow themselves to be seen. Being vulnerable is a strength, not a weakness. Cliché quote hun? But that is true. As what happened to me, I allowed myself to be vulnerable in front of the camera and it was an essential tool to heal, grow or understand, whether done consciously or unconsciously.
Being photographed is taking the time to yourself and allowing you to express yourself, but it also helps bring focus to positive life experiences, enhances your self-worth, and even reduces the stress hormone cortisol. It turns out that being a shutterbug gives you a perspective in more ways than one.
